Tablets VS Smartphone

Before this, I am confused whether to buy tablet, or smart phone after my previous hand phone was broken. I really don’t know which one is the best and worth for me to purchase it. Therefore, I started to search and Google to help me in making decision and find the answer.
What are tablets and smart phones?

Tablets are somewhat of a cross between smart phones and laptops. They tend to have a bigger screen than smart phones and are mainly able to do everything that smart phones can, except making calls and sending SMS. There are also some applications that only run in tablets and not in smart phones. Tablets are built to provide a rich multimedia experience and allow a user to have more computational capabilities.
On the other hand, smart phones fulfill people needs as a phone first. The primary function is connectivity. They allow user to make calls, as well as receive and send text messages. They also have additional capabilities, and tend to perform more like a personal digital assistant. This is mainly due to their independent operating systems that install and run advanced and complex applications.
The advantage that smart phones have on tablets is their portability. Smart phones usually have a screen measuring between 3.5 until 4.3 inches. Compare to the tablets, the screen of tablets measure between 7 until 10.5 inches. Therefore, smart phones suit the need of majority of people that carry their phones in their pocket. Me also prefer to have a gadget that may suit to my pocket.
However, the benefits of tablets are having battery life better than smart phones. Smart phones’ battery life is not lasting for a longer period and always need to charges compare to the tablets.
Actually, there are many advantages and disadvantages in using tablets and smart phone. However, the most important thing is, I have sufficient enough of budget to purchase either tablet or smart phone and I have clearly determine what are my priority.

Technology used in business

In this era, technology is very important to assist us in completing our task, communicating with others, improve the business and so on. In fact, most successful organizations rely on technology for almost every aspect of their business. Therefore, every entrepreneur or businessman should learn how to use and implement the technology in their business. There are few basic things that the entrepreneur or businessman has to know which are:

Computers
Computers are the most basic thing that the company should have. It is because it may assist many tasks faster and efficiently especially in using the software packages that allow workers to write letters, analyze financial information, send and receive emails, and design sales presentation. The computer itself could be a desktop model with a separate monitor and keyboard, or a mobile laptop. Personal computers (PCs) operate using Micrsoft Windows are the most common and help businessman to complete their task faster rather than using manually system.

Software
Software is loaded onto a computer to provide specific types of functionality. Productivity tools, such as Microsoft Word, a word processing package, and Microsoft Excel, a financial spreadsheet system, can perform many of the most common tasks a small business requires. Microsoft PowerPoint or Apple Keynote allows users to prepare professional-looking sales presentations quickly and easily.

Networking
Computers are often linked to form a network. This can allow people within an organization to share documents or information, provide a central repository to store documents, or for people to communicate using email within an office. They also allow several computers to share a printer or storage device. A network can be limited to computers within a shared office or span across multiple office and locations.

Telephone Systems
Although you might not consider an office telephone to be a piece of technology, today, business phone systems are quite complex. The most common type of phone system consist of a hardware unit that uses software to split the phone company line among individual handsets. These system often include an auto attendant that helps callers find the employee tey are seeking and most also include a voice mail system for messages. Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phones are becoming more popular. VOIP phones do not require a telephone line, but instead route all traffic over the internet to a special Handset.

Accounting System
Although technically software, accounting systems deserve their own mention because of their mission-critical role in any business. Accounting systems keep track of every dollar a company spends along with every dollar of revenue. One popular choice for smaller companies is Quickbooks by Intuit which simple to set up and maintain.

Inventory Control System
If your business sells goods, you may want to explore an inventory control system. These systems keep track of every item in your inventory, ensuring you do not run out of stock, nor you order too much. When new inventory arrives, the system is updated to reflect the additions and when it is sold, it is deducted from totals.

Customer Relationship Management Systems
A Customer Relationship Management (CRM) System tracks a customer throughout his experience with your company. From the moment you obtain information about the customer, the CRM system will track their interactions with you. If a customer calls to order a product or service, or calls for help or a technical question, the CRM system will tell the service representative when the items were shipped, what is back-ordered and any other conversations the customer may have had with your company. CRM systems help build relationships with a customer by assembling all the information your company collects from the customer in one place for use, review and proactive response.

HOME SWEET HOME : SMART HOME

What is smart home? We always heard about smart card and smart phone that are very familiar especially for those gen X and gen Y users. In this technology world, nowadays, smart home is introduced to meet the customers’ requirement and need. Smart home or home automation is a power to coordinate the various elements of your intelligent home equipment at the touch of a single button. Actually, Smart Home is the name of the consumer electronics company that specializes in home automation products,
information, how-to videos and industry information.

Home automation can be controlled by us according to what we want it to be. We can control just about anything we wish in our home. For example, we can adjust the temperature from our bed or control the volume of our whole-house audio system from any room.  Another example is the ceiling heater in our bathroom coming on automatically on cold morning five minutes before our alarm clock goes off, so that it is warm when we enter. In addition, home automation provides security, safeguarding our home. From a security camera’s peering eye to a water sensor that will alert us if something happen. Other than that, we also can remotely open a garage door or unlock and lock a specific door within our home all from our fingertips.

Home automation can be accomplished using various types of connectivity. However, the best thing is, today’s home automation products need no new wires. But, we should consider in adding networking, audio, video and control wiring, if we are planning to remodel or make some renovation for our home sweet home.

Do antivirus companies create computer viruses?

Did you ever heard about someone who created the cure is the one who created the virus. I don’t know whether the statement is true or wrong. Based on  the movie, Cicakman directed by Yusri KRU, the professor, who was Professor Klon  played by Aznil Haji Nawawi, had created the  healer to save the people in Metrofulus. But the truth is, he was the cause of that problem. He created the product that may cure the existing problem and sell it with the high price.

Nowadays, most people are using the technology to facilitate the works especially gen X and Y. However, as technology users, we are exposed to the threat that might be disturbed our tasks and activities. A system’s vulnerability is the possibility that the system will suffer harm by a threat. Just imagine the situation that we have to submit the important report to the lecturer and we are almost done. Unfortunately, by completing the last final part of report, our computer had attacked by virus and all the data has been disappeared. Of course, our blood temper may increase and it makes us stress!!.

Therefore, to prevent our computer from any malicious, firstly, we have to ensure that our operating system (OS) is up to date. This is essential if we are running a Microsoft Windows OS. Secondly, we need to have anti-virus software installed on our system and ensure that we have downloaded updates frequently to ensure our software has the latest fixes for new viruses, worms, and Trojan horses. Additionally, we want to make sure our anti-virus program has the capability to scan e-mail and files as they are downloaded from the internet, and we also need to run full disk scans periodically. This will help prevent malicious programs from even reaching our computer.

But…. The question is… do anti-virus companies create computer viruses??

I have looking for the answer for that question and I receive many feedback and comments. Some said that the antivirus companies are cause the viruses problem, meanwhile, some argue and give the evidence that they are not guilty. Here are the answer to prove that  the anti-virus companies are not involve in creating the viruses which I taken from the internet.

  • Creating computer viruses is not that difficult for someone who's familiar with computers and programming. Creating viruses would not help in the detection or prevention of viruses.
  •  An antivirus company could't protect itself from the virus before it was released without raising suspicion. Therefore, it would infect its own product, causing customer dissatisfaction.
  • There are plenty of other users who are not affiliated with antivirus companies who already do this.
  • The code that makes up a virus is reviewed by dozens of security experts when a virus gets out in the wild. Analyzing that code could trace its origins back to the antivirus company.
  • An antivirus company could be held liable for creating viruses, which would not only make the company look bad but could cause a lot of lawsuits.

There are many answers for this question and I just pick up randomly. However, I don’t know how far the truth of that evidence and argument. Therefore, I must to keep on searching the answer to satisfy myself.

Android Devices: Tethering and Portable Wi-Fi Hotspots

What is tethering and portable Wi-Fi hotspots?? Honestly, I am the one who do not know much about technology. Before this, I don't know how to connect the internet by using tethering and portable wi-fi hotspots until my friend told me that I can do so by using my smartphone. Actually, I'm the new user for smartphone, Sony Xperia V that I bought it about one month ago. Talking about my new phone, at the beginning I was awkward to use it. It is because, my previous phone is a normal mobile phone that just have keypad and at that moment, I don't know what is android!

This is my previous phone. I used this phone only for call and text message. I bought the new one because the previous phone was broken.

My new smartphone

Now, I am happy using this android device and this is worth it to buy this smartphone. I subscribe Celcom broadband for my smartphone for one week to connect the internet.  Usually, I always use broadband device for my laptop but unfortunately I left the broadband at my hometown.

At the beginning, I was worried because I don't know how to do all my assignments, tasks, homework until my friend told me that I can use usb cable to connect the internet from my smartphone to my laptop, with called tethering and portable wi-fi hotspots. Tethering is when you turn on your smartphone into a mobile Wi-Fi hotspots and share your phones 3G or 4G data connection. One's you have turned tethering on, any device with wireless connection can connect to the internet via your smartphone connection.

However, not all smartphone support tethering. Thanks to Allah, my phone is able to support tethering. Usually, the most popular smartphone can do, including the iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S3, Nokia Lumia 920, Blackberry z10, and of course, my beloved Sony Xperia V. By using this tethering and portable hotspots, we have to enter the password to prevent other people piggybacking on our connection. But, we just have to enter the password for the first time we connect, and next time, the tablet should connect automatically. We also can use usb cable to tethering and connect the internet.
